Going Caving in Glen Shiel

Andy Nisbet visited Duim Shionnach in Glen Shiel today (December 21) with Jonathan Preston, and added Macavity (V,6), a companion route to Lemon Groove.

The route starts as for Lemon Groove to the big cave, then climbs turf up the left wall of the cave to gain a smaller cave above. A move up left, then pull out right, gains the chimney above the cave which leads to the final section of Lemon Groove.

“Another slightly improbable line which had better cracks than expected,” Andy explained. “It is Glen Shiel’s answer to the caves of the Mediterranean!”
