Hi Andrew,

It starts just right of this and takes a diagonal ramp line, crossing the main face, before trending back left below the summit.

Are you still based in Ayr?

Hi Stuart
There is the odd thing left, with perhaps some wandering grade 3 type things on the right side of the right buttress. Where did your line with Simon go on the Nuis face. Was it up the middle near Right On, taking the prow at the top?

No success for me on this one Andy, unless of course I get points for being the World's Best Belayer! A resounding failure for me, in fact. The fith pitch had my name on it, and after all that belaying I only climbed about five metres of it. After two falls I'm losing interest. All part of the learning curve though...

I didn't think you were saying it, just thought Simon was being a tad generous. It's never clear. A number of my routes I'd failed on or aided before final success with Brian Davison. He was on-sight, and refused to accept any information, but I wasn't. Often it was shared leads but he led the crux. Does that count as on-sight? I'd say no, because I take on-sight as strictly that. And do I really care? Actually no. And is this any criticism of your success? Absolutely no.

Nobody said it was on-sight Andy - only that it was very close. Nick was on the route only twice, and didn't fall off; he certainly on-sighted the crux passage of the fifth pitch, and that is what gives the route its grade X. I'm glad I fell off as I'd probably be in a sanitorium right now if I hadn't!

Cheers, Guy

That's an interesting definition of on-sight. I shall have to consider Trail of Tears . . . .
